Gastronomy 101: King West Food Fest (for two)

Canada Canon S110 Digital Food Gastronomy 101 Toronto

Two hump days ago I finally met with M, one of my husband’s first friends here in Toronto. We scheduled a lunch date and chatted like we haven’t seen each other for the first time. What happened after lunch is just beyond our control (I mean, there’s lot of food places to see we cannot help it).

First stop was checking out the new Porchetta and Co. branch (525 King St W). We just managed to escape the long lunch line up. We both ordered their House Special (4 oz Porchetta with cracking, truffle sauce, mustard, hot sauce, and parmesan – I had my hot sauce replaced with regular tomato sauce). Contrary to what my husband said, I enjoyed the crunchy bread and the plump porchetta paired with the crackling (or the famous balat ng lechon in my native Tagalog).

We decided to walk around and found Portland Variety (587 King St W). Their chai latte is a must try – just the right sweetness and spiciness that helped me endure that cold weather. They have a dining area as well that I might check out later. M & I chatted a bit more until we decided to walk a bit further.

Our final destination was Delysees (780 King St W). I first visited this French bakery last summer when my good friend Grace took me there for dessert and I was totally smitten by their macaron and eclairs. We both had the Gianda Gold eclair which tasted really decadent.

Being new in the city it is always a treat for me when I discover new to me area to visit. 🙂
