What a nice time to meet up with two old friends from Winnipeg on a hot, bright, July summer. They travelled east coast with their family and had a Toronto stop-over. My hub and I decided to bring them to Guu Izakaya at 398 Church Street because of the good food, and an eating experience that is not yet available in Winnipeg. I haven’t been here that long but it sure is refreshing to see familiar faces and catch up with their travel stories in between gulps of tap beer.
As expected, the food is really good (albeit pricey – it’s Japanese pub/tapas, after all), but for the taste, this place (also the one at Bloor) is something I will keep coming back. I love their baked brie.
